It is harvested in a sustainable manner from a remote and pristine area of the vast Kalahari Desert in South Africa. Here, salt water from an ancient underground lake, fed by subterranean streams, is laid to rest on a pan, sun-dried and harvested.

    RICHARD BOSMAN & BACON ON BREE

    says owner of Bacon on Bree, Richard Bosman, and one of our loyal Oryx customers.

     Richard not only believes in having Oryx on the table for his customers,

    but it’s also Oryx he chooses to flavour his specialty meats.

     “I use Oryx because I find that the flavour of the final product is better. Salt is a critical part of the curing process and the amount used is very precise in order to prevent the product from spoiling. With Oryx Desert Salt, I don’t have to worry about the salt overpowering the flavour of the meat. I don’t use less but end up with a better product. I was using sea salt previously but prefer the flavour of the mineral salt.”

    Bacon on Bree has fast become a Bree Street favourite, offering a selection of sandwiches and salads, from the familiar BLT and a bacon and Brie croissant to a bacon and blue cheese salad, to name just a few.

    FAVOURITE SUMMER SALAD

    This ultimate go-to summer salad from the team at Two Kitchens One Lifestyle is so

    easy and quick to make – and with our Summer (almost) here, it’s time to enjoy al fresco evenings, and simple, flavourful food with friends! 

    You can omit the halloumi if you are vegan, and you don’t have to stick to this recipe, you can add any vegetables you like.

    Ingredients

    3 sweet potatoes, peeled and chopped in bite sizes
    1 block of organic High Weald halloumi, sliced
    About 6 romaine lettuce leaves, chopped
    10 cherry tomatoes, sliced in 4
    1 red pepper, chopped
    2 mini cucumbers, chopped
    2 spring onions, chopped
    Handful of olives of your choice
    Small tin of artichoke hearts
    Extra virgin olive oil
    Oryx Desert Salt

    Method

    Preheat oven to 180 degrees while you peel and chop the sweet potatoes.

    Put them on a baking tray covering with baking paper, drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt.

    Mix them around the tray until they are all covered in the oil then place in the oven for around 30 minutes.

    Prepare the rest of your veg and add to a bowl then drizzle with a little olive oil, salt and pepper (you can add lemon here if you like it) and mix well.

    Place the halloumi under the grill or on the BBQ (we love it on the BBQ) and grill until nicely charred.

    Remove the potatoes from the oven and place on top of the salad, then remove the halloumi from the grill or BBQ and place on top. Serve immediately.
